About Lizzie Duemig
Lizzie Duemig has a background in education, law enforcement, and research. She has a doctorate in forensic psychology and master’s degrees in education and philosophy. Duemig was a teacher in the public school system for eight years before becoming a police officer. She is a licensed Master Peace Officer and has worked for city, county, and federal agencies. She is an accomplished expert witness and testified in cases ranging from serial sexual offenses to death penalty trials. Duemig’s research specialty is in predatory criminal behavior, threat assessment, and threat management. She has advised a scope of entities on safety and prevention planning to include K-12 schools, institutions of higher education, court management, hospital systems, and houses of worship.

Inspiration for Travels with Sage
Sage is a white lab/husky mix and Duemig’s real canine companion. After the loss of a fellow officer, she adopted Sage as a rescue puppy. Sage provided comfort and healing and the two quickly became each other’s shadows. Sage has a beautiful demeanor that is calming and almost spiritual, which aligns with Duemig’s steadfast faith. Sage is always excited and eager to join Duemig on new adventures. The duo has visited 23 states together, where they’ve met wonderful people and experienced unique activities along the way. Travels with Sage aims to help early readers with vocabulary development, alliteration, character development, imagination, interpersonal relationships, navigating difficult circumstances, embracing friendship, finding joy by helping others.
